I went to a retreat last year down in Deerfield, MA where one of the attendees (a lady from Bennington, VT) was using an old-fashioned (as in dating from many centuries ago) dangling hand-spinning wheel. She was at it every time there was not an activity requiring the use of hands. It was entrancing to watch. I believe she was spinning alpaca fiber.
